VFV is proud to announce that Our51stState.com has hired ViralFilmVideo.com to produce Viral Videos to promote it’s website. The site (still in pre-launch mode) will be a place for the public to learn more about the US involvement in Iraq and as well as socially network and purchase T-shirts, Bumper Stickers & Buttons. If you get a chance, buy a button and say that ViralFilmVideo.com sent you.
Just looking at footage from the recent shoot for Assisted Living episode 8 (and parts of 9 & 10) last week. We returned back to the apartment briefly where Dustin returns home and is welcomed back by his sister after her hissy fit. It’s been a couple episodes since working with Grace McPhillips who plays “Sarah” and it’s a dream. The only downside is being cramped back in what’s a drab apartment set. We introduced a new character “Daryl” played by comedian Darius Kennedy. He’s another Stand-Up Comedian, and Dustin’s only “black” friend. They bump into each other and catch up and Dairus invites him to perform his stand-up. It also gives him someone his own age to bounce jokes off of. (this will make more sense after people watch the episodes). Anyway, we’ll try to sneek in another shoot outside before winter really hits but either way we have a two month supply of episodes ready to go.
Started posting our videos to three new sites over the weekend. VEOH.COM , CRACKLE.COM and STUPIDVIDEOS.COM are three great sites. I love youtube for the mass qualities but I really am hoping that our videos, especially the NEW SERIES can find a permanent exclusive home. One of the pluses would be building a home and hopefully having a revenue stream so we can continue making the videos with less focus on us having to package the advertisers. Our advertiser base is growing but is still very small, it also gives us more time to focus on the creative.
I can’t wait to release the new videos we have produced but I want to try to see if we can find an exclusive home that will really market and promote the film. Hopefully more to come soon.
ViralFilmVideo.com has been hired to create new video clips for an upcoming feature film directed by Joe Otting called “Under New Management.” The clips that were filmed late October will play on video screens within the feature film and hopefully will be showcased at a theater near you on the big screen. Contractually we’re not able to show you the clips until after the movie premieres, but you’ll have to trust us that they look great. Thanks to Joe and everyone at The Good Film, LP for thinking of us and best of luck with the rest of the film.
I had the chance yesterday to check out my updates to the website on our PC laptop and I noticed several spots where things were noticebly different on a pc than on a mac. Michelle pointed out that this is not uncommon and that Duh, I should have known better. Part of me knew it was a possibility things would be different on a PC than a mac but I barely figured out how to update the site and didn’t want to admit there was a problem until I could figure out how to solve it. So for anybody who has looked at the site on a PC we know there’s still a little work to do. On a positive note, many of you have seen the new VFV logo designed by our graphic designer Augusto Villatoro. He’s a great designer and very efficient allowing us to use cool graphics when needed but still stay affordable. I hopefully will add the new logo header to the site today and look forward to doing more and more branding as time goes by.
We made some changes to our website on an interim basis and look forward to doing a better job of keeping things up to date. The best part about the website changes is that I was able to pull them off myself. Until recently, Michelle or Pat had to help update the website and as a result it was less of a priority because there was always something else to do. Now that I’ve finally sat in front of Dreamweaver long enough to learn how to make updates and we’ll hopefully be able to better keep the site updated. We still will probably switch down the road to a drupal site and are working on a prototype now, but we can take our time with the transition and really make a splash when we re-launch.
We’ve been spending a lot of time planning how to re-launch the new viralfilmvideo.com site in the coming months. Up until now we’ve been pretty much a basic site built to promote the company and to showcase our portfolio. In the near future we’ll still have part of the site about us, but the main goal will be to be better able to view our original content and some of our favorite videos from other sites. We’re still learning a lot about some of what we’re hoping to do so we’re taking our time. Our focus has always been producing viral videos first, and it still is, but we’re also hoping to offer services through our partners to help promote videos. If anybody has any websites that they think have a great design, I’m definitely looking for samples. I do think we’ll end up going with a Drupal design and following in the footsteps of our half stepsister site www.purestock.tv which is relaunching it’s new site soon. Drupal will be something that we can hopefully update a little easier than some of the other choices. The only downside is that at some point we may have to move from BlueHost to another server, because of some of the video posting services that aren’t available on BlueHost. One possibility is AptHost.com but we’re still exploring options. More to come.
I’m working on getting a few new shows off the ground and the content is very amazing. I can’t wait to tell you more about them. I’m also trying to find a new home for our new series and really hope something comes through. The ideal scenario is to have the show on Blip.tv but I’m worried that I wouldn’t get the promotion needed. Our past series including Pitchman have pretty much been learning the ins and outs of a new media venture and now we’re really psyched and ready to do it for real. I talked to Mike Hudack from blip.tv and he seemed like a great guy, and gave me some advice for the ASSISTED LIVING show involving toning down a little some of the graphic content. I know we can still be edgy and funny not crossing the line to what most people would be offended. So we’re ready to post the first five episodes of ASSISTED LIVING and are about to start shooting the two untitled new series. Here’s to the excitement of starting a new show and saying goodbye (at least temporarily) to Pitchman, 1.5 million hits later on YouTube alone. Send me an e-mail if you want the low down on the new show. dave@viralfilmvideo.com or give us a call. DAVE
Thought I’d test the new YOUTUBE player here. Not sure if I like it yet. I like the blip.tv format with the widescreen look but the youtube player is nice because the layout shows thumbs of the other clips so it’s easier for people to watch different videos. When we do the redesign of the main site (soon) hopefully we’ll figure out what we want to do. I also like blip.tv because it’s easy for a novice like me to resize the clips to a little larger size, perfect for entertainment. Let me know what you guys like or if there’s something out there better that I’m missing. DAVE
